My iPhone 3G preparation purchases

iPhone Pre-Purchases
iPhone 3G is almost here and third party gear is coming out now. in preparation for this weeks purchase of a iPhone 3G I searched online and received some recommendations from twitter for gear. Here's what it came down to.

Elan Clip

I use a clip style case for my current phone (Blackberry Curve). It's what Im comfortable using. With the Elan Clip the phone can be cradled face in or face out. Made with a leather outer case and a polycarbonate shell. Like most clips it rotates 180 degrees.
What I really liked about it is that the clip locks in the extended position for use as a stand for watching movies or videos. I have an iPod Touch and during my breaks or lunch I often watch video podcasts or movies at the desk or in the break room. I find myself grabbing a can of soda or box to try and prop my iPod up against it as a stand. So the doubling as a stand is a great feature for me.

Plantronics Discovery 925 Bluetooth Headset

I have tried several different headsets with my blackberry and one thing I know is that a lot of them just flat out suck. I have had good luck with Plantronics.
I chose the Plantronics Discovery 925 based upon reviews I have read and past experience with Plantronics brand. Amazon had a great price at $79.84. Compare that to the Apple store price of $129.95. Plus being an Amazon Prime member I get free shipping and no sales tax.

Invisible Shield

The phone is protected in the case but when I still wanted some protection outside the case. That's where invisible shield will come in. Using Invisible Shield on past iPods I can honestly state that they make a fantastic product. Great protection and includes a lifetime guarantee. I never had to return one yet.

That should pretty much cover what I need for my new iPhone for now. I'm sure other products will follow once I get it. All the above items are ordered and just waiting for them to come in.

The Elan Clip is being

The Elan Clip is being returned today. Its clasp is rounded so it doesnt actually grab the belt like other clips have. The spring is pretty weak. The result was when I would bend down the case would slip up off my belt. I dropped my iphone a couple of times because of it.
It is also difficult to remove the phone from the case with one hand. The upper clasp is very tight. Feels like it may end up scratching the phone over time.

Hopefully their next gen case will resolve these issues. I really like Griffin products in general. I bet they will have this improved upon.

Received the Plantronics headset

Got my bluetooth headset in. I really like the plantronics discovery 925. It fits very nicely in my ear and light weight. Callers say I sound very clear with hardly any background noise while im driving.
I highly recommend it as a bluetooth option.
